One of Cotecna’s first government contracts was awarded by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1984. The objective was to protect the country’s foreign currency reserves.
In 2006, Cotecna was awarded a new contract, along with two other inspection companies, to establish a destination inspection programme in Apapa and Tincan sea ports, Nnamdi Azikwe and Aminu Kano international airports and at Jibiya and Banki land borders.
Cotecna’s services encompass import document processing, scanning, training and capcity building for Customs officers and other stakeholders within the scope of a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) scheme with an investment of close to USD100 million in equipment, sources and training.
At the end of 2012, The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SONCAP) commissioned Cotecna to verify the conformity of imported goods according to current best practice.
